Garbodor

Garbodor, a Poison-type Pokémon first introduced in the Generation V titles, was featured as an Illustration Rare in the Paradox Rift expansion released by The Pokémon Company in late 2023. This set focused on the time-bending paradox phenomena, integrating cards that highlighted the distinct aesthetics of the modern Pokémon world alongside ancient and future variations. The Inclusion of Garbodor in this specific rarity tier shifted the focus from its standard utility to a more artistic, narrative-driven portrayal of the creature within a urban or industrial landscape.

The artwork for this specific card, numbered 204/182, was illustrated by artist GIDORA, who utilized a distinct, textured style to emphasize the grotesque yet charming nature of the trash-heap Pokémon. By placing Garbodor in an environment that emphasizes its ecological background, the illustration aims to elevate a typically overlooked subject into a centerpiece for collectors. Upon release, the card was received positively by the community for its detailed line work and the way it successfully translated a challenging subject into a high-end visual format.
