Genesect

The BW101 Genesect card was released in 2013 as part of the Black & White series, specifically serving as a promotional tie-in for the cinematic debut of the fifteenth Pokémon feature film, Genesect and the Legend Awakened. Distributed in select Western markets, this card features artwork by Toyste Beach, whose signature style emphasizes the cybernetic, sleek silhouette of the Mythical Pokémon. The design focuses on the character's signature cannon apparatus, reflecting its lore as an ancient fossil modified by Team Plasma scientists into a high-tech combat unit.

Upon its release, the card was positioned as an accessible promotional tool for players and collectors, often included within the Genesect Collection box set. The card is noted for its full-art illustration, a trend that gained significant momentum during the Black & White era to showcase the character designs of the new generation. Critics and players of the time valued it for its clean, high-contrast aesthetic, which successfully captured the imposing, cold mechanical nature of Genesect in contrast to more traditional, organic Pokémon designs.
