Latias δ

Released in the 2005 Delta Species expansion, this card represents the short-lived Delta Species mechanic within the Pokémon Trading Card Game. During this era, the game introduced Pokémon that had undergone mutations due to exposure to electromagnetic waves in the Holon region, resulting in cards that featured different elemental types than their standard iterations. This specific Latias card features the Eon Pokémon as an Electric type, rather than its traditional Dragon or Psychic typing, marking a creative departure in the game's mechanics.

The card features artwork by illustrator Masakazu Fukuda, who was known for his distinct, clean digital style that frequently appeared in sets throughout the mid-2000s. The design emphasizes the unique metallic or crystalline aesthetic associated with the Delta Species concept. Upon its release, the card was received as a functional novelty by players, as the shifting of Pokémon types allowed for new strategic combinations in competitive play, while collectors valued the card for its status as a Rare Holo within a set that fundamentally altered the visual identity of the Pokémon franchise at the time.
