What it does
When you play Magneton from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokémon, you may move any number of basic Energy cards attached to your other Pokémon to Magneton.
You may discard all Lightning Energy cards attached to Magneton when you use this attack. If you do, put damage counters equal to the amount of Energy cards removed in this way on any number of your opponent's Benched Pokémon in the way you like. (For example, if you discard 3 Lightning Energy cards, you can put 1 damage counter on 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon and 2 on another.)

Where it came from
Released in May 2003 as part of the Skyridge expansion, this card represents the final set produced for the Pokémon Trading Card Game by Wizards of the Coast before the license transitioned to The Pokémon Company. Developed during a transitional period for the game, Skyridge was noted for its use of the E-Card Reader technology, which allowed players to scan cards to unlock digital content on the Game Boy Advance.
The artwork for this Magneton was illustrated by Kouki Saitou, a prominent artist in the Pokémon TCG scene. Saitou utilized a distinctive, clean digital style that emphasized the metallic textures and mechanical complexity of the Magneton character. Upon its release, the card was well-regarded by collectors for its holographic finish and its significance as a piece of late-Wizards-era history, marking the end of a foundational chapter in the game's evolution.
