Meditite

Meditite first appeared in the Hidden Legends expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, which was released in mid-2004 as part of the EX series. This set was designed to introduce players to the third-generation mechanics and Pokémon species popularized by the Game Boy Advance titles, Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. By placing the Fighting-type Meditite as a common card within this set, the designers aimed to provide accessible deck-building options for younger players and those engaging with the growing competitive landscape of the time.

The card features artwork by illustrator Kouki Saitou, whose clean lines and expressive character designs became a staple for the series throughout the mid-2000s. Saitou's work often focused on capturing a singular moment of movement or personality, which complemented the static, meditative nature of the Pokémon itself. Upon release, the card was well-received by players for its functional role in standard play, serving as a reliable utility card for Psychic and Fighting decks before later expansions introduced more complex evolutions.
