Provenance

Where it came from

The Legendary Collection, released in 2002, was designed as a retrospective set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, gathering popular cards from the original Base Set, Jungle, Fossil, and Team Rocket expansions. This reprint of Nidorino, originally appearing in the Jungle set, features the distinctive reverse-holofoil pattern that defined the collection. By bringing together cards that had previously rotated out of competitive play, the set served as a bridge for players and collectors to acquire staples of the early TCG era.

The card artwork retains the original illustration by Kagemaru Himeno, a long-standing artist in the Pokémon franchise known for her dynamic character poses. Her portrayal of Nidorino emphasizes its aggressive posture and signature horn, consistent with the creature's established lore in the Pokémon video games. While Nidorino is a Poison-type in the games, it is classified as a Grass-type in this iteration of the TCG, a common mechanical convention for the era's card designs.
