What it does
As long as Omastar is your Active Pokémon, your opponent can't play Basic Pokémon or Evolution cards from his or her hand to evolve his or her Active Pokémon.
The Defending Pokémon can't retreat during your opponent's next turn.

Where it came from
Released in May 2003 as part of the Skyridge expansion, this card represents one of the final sets produced by Wizards of the Coast before the Pokémon Trading Card Game license transitioned to The Pokémon Company. Skyridge was designed to integrate with the Nintendo Game Boy Advance titles Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire through the use of the Nintendo e-Reader, a device that scanned dot-code strips on the side of the cards to unlock Pokédex data and mini-games.
The artwork for this Omastar was rendered by Mitsuhiro Arita, a veteran illustrator known for his definitive style within the early years of the franchise. By this stage in the game's evolution, illustrators were increasingly tasked with creating dynamic, textured depictions of Pokémon to distinguish the later e-Card series from the initial Base Set aesthetic. The card was well-received by collectors for its clean composition and its inclusion in what is now considered a highly sought-after, low-print-run set from the late Wizards of the Coast era.
