Provenance

Where it came from

Persian δ (48/110) was released in the Holon Phantoms expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, which debuted in early 2006. This set introduced Delta Species Pokémon, a mechanical gimmick represented by the Greek letter delta symbol, which featured Pokémon with altered types compared to their traditional elemental alignment. In this instance, Persian, normally a Normal-type Pokémon, was reimagined as a Darkness-type, reflecting the thematic experimentation prevalent in the mid-2000s TCG era.

The artwork for this card was created by illustrator Kouki Saitou, whose work is highly recognizable for its clean lines and distinct character posing. The design reflects the 'Holon' narrative arc, where Pokémon were modified by electromagnetic waves at the Holon Research Tower, causing them to adopt new elemental properties. As an uncommon card, it served as a functional piece for players building Darkness-themed decks during the EX-era competitive format.
