Where it came from
The Potion card from the EX Trainer Kit Latios was released in 2004 as part of a dual-deck instructional set designed to teach new players the mechanics of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. These kits were packaged with two half-decks—one themed around Latios and the other around Latias—and included a tutorial booklet to guide novices through the basics of energy attachment, evolution, and damage healing.
The design of this specific iteration of Potion features the clean, functional aesthetic characteristic of the EX-era card design, emphasizing clarity for the player. While the card itself is a functional reprint found in many sets, this version is notable for its specific set numbering and the unique logo imprinted on the card, which marks it as a component of the introductory pedagogical tools utilized by The Pokémon Company during the mid-2000s to expand their player base.
