Swellow

The Swellow card, numbered 157/182, was released as part of the Destined Rivals set within the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This set was designed to capture the competitive spirit of Pokémon battles, drawing heavy inspiration from the mechanics and aesthetic shifts introduced in the late stages of the game's expansive series. As a Common-rarity card, it served as a foundational element for players looking to bolster their decks with reliable Colorless-type Pokémon, reflecting the game's intent to provide accessible options for both casual play and tactical depth.

The artwork for the card follows the series' long-standing tradition of utilizing diverse artistic styles to depict Pokémon in natural or action-oriented environments. While specific artist credits vary across the set, the design direction for the Destined Rivals series focused on vibrant, clean lines that emphasize the agility and characteristic traits of the Pokémon depicted. Upon its release, the set was received as a standard but essential expansion for collectors and players alike, praised for its consistency and the inclusion of familiar Pokémon integrated into the evolving meta-game of the era.
