Provenance

Where it came from

The Victory Cup card was created as a high-tier prize for top-placing competitors in the 2012 Pokémon World Championships. These cards were distributed to participants who achieved specific milestones during the event, serving as both a prestigious trophy and a functional piece of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The card's design features artwork by artist Eske Yoshinori, who utilized a clean, celebratory aesthetic fitting for a premier tournament.

Part of the BW Black Star Promos series, the Victory Cup is distinguished by its golden border and the specific year and tournament designation embossed on the card face. Because these were never sold in standard retail booster packs, they represent a moment of competitive history within the Black & White era of the game. They were well-received by the competitive community for their scarcity and the prestige associated with earning one through tournament play rather than purchase.
