Big Business (Raiden Remix) / Renaissance Rap (Zardonic Remix)

Released in 2009 by the drum and bass imprint Foul Play, this 12-inch single serves as a testament to the high-energy, aggressive soundscapes that defined the late-2000s neurofunk and techstep scenes. The record features remixes by Raiden and Zardonic, two influential producers who were instrumental in bridging the gap between traditional drum and bass rhythms and heavier, industrial-leaning electronic textures. The release arrived at a time when the label was focused on pushing a grittier, club-oriented aesthetic that resonated with a growing international underground audience.

The design and production of this release were driven by the label's commitment to the technical precision of the darkside drum and bass movement. By commissioning remixes from producers like Zardonic—who was already gaining recognition for his hybrid approach to heavy metal and electronic dance music—Foul Play aimed to create tracks that were functional for dance floors while showcasing intricate sound design. The project was received within the community as a quintessential example of the label's output during that era, valued for its impact on sound systems and its influence on the evolution of harder electronic subgenres.
