Caminhada (Yeyeye-yoyoyo)

Caminhada (Yeyeye-yoyoyo) by Osman Santos-Martins was released in 1993 under the Philips label, catalog number 2330. This recording reflects the mid-nineties landscape of Brazilian popular music, a period characterized by the evolution of regional styles within the major label system. Philips, a subsidiary of PolyGram at the time, was instrumental in documenting diverse artists during this era, often bridging the gap between traditional folk rhythms and the contemporary production sensibilities of the early nineties.

The composition leans into the rhythmic storytelling tradition common to the artist's discography. As a record from the nineties, it serves as a snapshot of the technical transitions in music production, balancing organic instrumentation with the crisp, clean engineering aesthetics that defined studio releases of that decade. While Osman Santos-Martins is a niche figure in the global music lexicon, this record is representative of the label's effort to provide local artists with a platform for distribution during a transitionary time for the international music industry.
