Cantata No. 119: "Preise, Jerusalem, Den Herrn" / Cantata No. 28: "Gottlob! Nun Geht Das Jahr Zu Ende"

This recording was released in 1966 by the Musical Heritage Society, an organization founded to distribute high-quality classical music recordings through mail-order subscriptions in the United States. The release features two of Johann Sebastian Bach's church cantatas, conducted by Fritz Werner. Werner was a central figure in the mid-century Bach revival, known for his work with the Heinrich-Schütz-Chor Heilbronn and the Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester, ensembles that focused on historically informed interpretations of Baroque repertoire during an era when such approaches were gaining significant traction among scholarly audiences.
