Christopher Dorner / Pray Or Prey

Released in 2020 by the industrial hip-hop trio HO99O9, the 'Christopher Dorner / Pray Or Prey' single was issued through their own imprint, Toys Have Powers. The track reflects the group's signature blend of hardcore punk, industrial noise, and rap, utilizing provocative, often controversial subject matter to critique societal tensions and systemic violence. It stands as a visceral piece of their discography, underscoring the group's intent to push boundaries through confrontational aesthetics and unrelenting sonic intensity.

The conceptual framework for the release centers on the group's penchant for dark, politically charged narratives that challenge the listener's comfort. By referencing the figure of Christopher Dorner, the collective engages with a complex and polarized historical moment, repurposing its gravity into their idiosyncratic brand of dark art. The design and presentation maintain a raw, DIY ethos consistent with HO99O9’s rejection of mainstream polish, emphasizing their role as provocateurs within the modern experimental music landscape.
