Where it came from
Released in 1973 by Epic Records, this single served as part of the label's international distribution strategy to expand the reach of the Philadelphia soul group The Three Degrees into Spanish-speaking markets. The record, cataloged as 40.033, features the tracks 'Cuando Volveré A Verte' and 'Viejo Verde', presenting the group's signature smooth vocal harmonies adapted for global audiences during their peak popularity under the production guidance of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff.
The aesthetic and musical direction for this international release followed the polished, orchestral soul arrangements characteristic of the Philadelphia International Records sound. Designed to capitalize on the group's rising profile following their breakthrough performances and television appearances, the record was positioned to bridge the gap between American soul and the contemporary Latin pop landscape of the mid-1970s.
