Where it came from
Released by the Swiss label Top-Disc under the catalog number 80 504, this record features two classic Brothers Grimm fairy tales, 'Frau Holle' and 'Dornröschen,' narrated by Elisabeth Schnell. During the mid-twentieth century, the Swiss audio landscape saw a significant rise in spoken-word recordings for children, with Top-Disc serving as a prominent distributor for educational and cultural entertainment designed for home listening.
Elisabeth Schnell was a highly regarded Swiss radio personality and actress known for her distinct, clear vocal delivery, which made her a staple for children's audio literature. The production favored a minimalist, atmospheric approach common to European children’s audio of the era, focusing on storytelling technique and clear articulation to engage young listeners. It remains a representative artifact of Swiss post-war oral storytelling media.
