Where it came from
Released in 1976 on the Delta label, this record features Luxembourgish adaptations of the classic Brothers Grimm fairytales, 'Der gestiefelte Kater' and 'Dornröschen'. These audio productions were part of a broader cultural effort in Luxembourg to preserve the local language and oral storytelling traditions for a younger generation, blending traditional German folklore with regional linguistic nuances.
The production was helmed by composer and musician Jean-Pierre Kemmer, a significant figure in Luxembourgish cultural life known for his work in radio and children's programming. The design and presentation were intended to be accessible for school-aged children, serving as both an educational tool and a piece of domestic entertainment, reflective of the mid-1970s push to distribute local-language media on vinyl.
