Where it came from
Released in 2016 by the Spanish label Bickerton Records, this 7-inch single serves as a nostalgic revival of the Dutch novelty music scene. The tracks 'Doe Mij Dit Nie An' and 'Dat Leuke Ding Van De Kruidenier' were originally recorded by Los Combo Koedijk, a group rooted in the lighthearted, often humorous tradition of Dutch-language pop that gained traction in the mid-twentieth century.
Bickerton Records specializes in archiving rare and regional pop artifacts, aiming to preserve the aesthetic of the original mid-century pressings. The design reflects the mid-century modern sensibility, utilizing bright, punchy typography and a clean layout intended to mimic the vintage singles found in European bargain bins. It was produced specifically for a niche audience of vinyl enthusiasts and garage-pop collectors who appreciate the eccentric charm of obscure 1960s and 70s Dutch music.
