Where it came from
Dornenvögel is a black metal album released in 2018 by the German artist Karg, an atmospheric project founded by V. Wahntraum. Part of the artist's prolific discography within the post-black metal scene, the album was issued through the German independent label Art Of Propaganda. The work is characterized by its blend of abrasive metallic textures and melancholic, emotionally raw songwriting, which has become a hallmark of the Karg project since its inception in 2006.
The album serves as a continuation of Karg's thematic exploration of isolation and existential longing. Visually and sonically, the release adheres to the established aesthetic of the label, which often bridges the gap between traditional black metal and modern atmospheric sensibilities. Critically, the record is noted for its ambitious arrangements and its role in solidifying the project's presence in the European underground, appealing to listeners who favor introspective, melody-driven extreme music.
