Where it came from
Released in 1978 on the independent Ariel label, this 45-rpm single represents a modest entry in the late seventies singer-songwriter circuit. Jim McGaren, a Nashville-based musician, recorded this project during an era when independent labels were frequently used by regional artists to circulate their material to local radio stations and jukebox operators in hopes of gaining wider traction.
The record occupies a space within the broader landscape of folk-tinged pop common to the mid-to-late seventies. As an obscure pressing, it reflects the typical production aesthetic of the time, characterized by direct, analog studio techniques aimed at capturing a polished yet intimate sound. While the release did not achieve national commercial success, it serves as a testament to the prolific nature of independent music distribution during that period.
