Provenance

Where it came from

Released in 1980 on the BIS label, this record is part of a dedicated series documenting the historic organs of Sweden. The project was conceived as an archival endeavor to capture the unique sonic characteristics of these instruments, many of which remain in local churches, ensuring that their specific tonal qualities were preserved for a wider international audience through the technical expertise of the BIS production team.

The recording features organist Rune Engsö performing works by composers including J.S. Bach and G.J. Vogler on the organ in Gammalkil. The design and production ethos focused on high-fidelity captures that emphasized the natural acoustics of the church settings, a hallmark of the label's commitment to classical organ repertoire throughout the late 20th century.
