Where it came from
Released in 1995 on the independent label Urban Gorilla Recordings, this 12-inch vinyl single captures the high-energy aesthetic of the mid-90s UK rave and jungle scene. As the fifth catalog entry for the label, the record highlights the collaborative and fluid nature of jungle production during this era, featuring dual perspectives on the original track through the Rogue Unit and Dream Team mixes.
The record is a hallmark of the period's underground dance music culture, characterized by complex breakbeat editing and sub-bass weight. The production reflects the minimalist, rhythm-focused ethos common to Urban Gorilla’s catalog, which sought to bridge the gap between hard-hitting jungle and the more melodic, sample-heavy tendencies that defined the genre's transition into the mid-90s.
