Hidden

Released in 2005 as the inaugural long-playing record for the German label Rotary Cocktail Recordings, Hidden serves as a foundational artifact of the mid-2000s minimal techno scene. Holger Flinsch, a figure deeply embedded in the electronic music culture of Frankfurt, crafted the album to bridge the gap between dancefloor-oriented club tracks and the more atmospheric, cerebral textures favored by the label's aesthetic. The release emerged during a period when Rotary Cocktail was establishing its reputation as a curator of sophisticated, stripped-back electronic music.

The album's design reflects the minimalist ethos prevalent in the label’s visual identity at the time. By focusing on stark typography and understated, abstract motifs, the cover art complements the auditory experience Flinsch intended: a subtle, immersive journey that relies on rhythmic precision rather than overt melody. Upon its release, the record was well-received within the niche circuits of underground electronic music, solidifying Flinsch's position within the Rotary Cocktail collective and contributing to the label's enduring status among vinyl collectors of the minimal era.
