Where it came from
Released in 1972 on the Micro label, this single is a characteristic artifact of the Belgian cabaret and novelty music scene of the 1970s. Louwee Van't Lieg Plafon, a pseudonym for the entertainer Louis Baret, utilized the record to tap into the regional popularity of humorous, dialect-heavy songs that were a staple of local radio and variety shows in Flanders at the time.
The recording reflects the era's tendency toward lighthearted, satirical social commentary, pairing local folk sensibilities with the pop production standards of the period. Like many records from the Micro catalog, it was intended primarily for regional distribution and jukebox play, serving as a reflection of the specific cultural humor and linguistic flair that defined Belgian variety music of the early 1970s.
