Where it came from
Released on the Fiesta label in the early 1970s, this 7-inch single captures the vibrant and polyrhythmic essence of Congolese rumba and soukous during a golden era of Kinshasa music. These tracks emerged from a period when bands like Les Thu Zahina were at the forefront of shifting the Zairean sound toward a more driving, dance-oriented style that would eventually define the high-energy soukous movement later in the decade.
The composition reflects the collaborative creative spirit of the era, bringing together the talents of Bruno Bonyeme and Ghislain Makanga within the ensemble framework of Orchestre Les Thu Zahina. The design and production reflect the aesthetic of Fiesta Records, which served as a critical conduit for capturing the sophisticated guitar interplay and vocal arrangements that established this group as a definitive voice in the local club scene.
