Where it came from
Les Chocottes was released in 2012 by the French-speaking Swiss cartoonist and musician Gaëtan. Known primarily for his extensive career in children's literature and music, Gaëtan developed this project under the l'Oreille label as part of his ongoing mission to create engaging, accessible audio content for younger audiences. The album captures a blend of playful storytelling and acoustic-led compositions that reflect the artist's background in graphic arts and his commitment to musical pedagogy.
The aesthetic and tonal direction of the record mirrors Gaëtan's signature style, which emphasizes simplicity, whimsy, and emotional resonance. By focusing on themes of childhood anxieties—implied by the title, which references common fears—the album aims to provide a comforting and interactive experience for families. The project was received within the Francophone children's music circuit as a continuation of Gaëtan's established body of work, praised for its sincerity and the clean, bright production values that characterize his collaborations with l'Oreille.
