Where it came from
Released in 1974 on the W & G label, this 7-inch single by Country Limited serves as a snapshot of the Australian independent country music scene during the mid-1970s. W & G Records, based in Melbourne, played a significant role in documenting local talent during this era, often focusing on artists who bridged the gap between traditional country styles and the emerging popular sounds of the time.
The recording reflects the classic aesthetic of 1970s Australian country singles, utilizing a straightforward, acoustic-driven arrangement that prioritized lyrical storytelling. While Country Limited remained a relatively niche act, the release is characteristic of the production values maintained by W & G, which often favored a clean, broadcast-ready sound for the domestic radio market.
