Where it came from
Released in 2002 on the independent label Black Dragon Records, Loneliness by Loïc From Paris serves as a notable example of early 2000s electronic and experimental music emerging from the Parisian underground scene. The record was produced during a period when independent labels were increasingly seeking to carve out niche identities, and this debut release acted as the foundational catalog entry for the label, establishing its sonic trajectory.
The design and artistic direction were crafted to mirror the introspective and melancholic themes suggested by the title, utilizing minimalist aesthetics to reflect the isolation of urban living. While Loïc From Paris was a relatively obscure figure at the time, the record was received by specialized music critics as a somber, atmospheric addition to the downtempo genre, garnering appreciation for its nuanced production and evocative arrangements.
