Provenance

Where it came from

Released by the label LDC as part of the ambitious L'Organo Nei Secoli series, volume 9 focuses specifically on the development of Italian organ music during the 19th century. The collection serves as a comprehensive survey of the 'Giovane Scuola' movement and its predecessors, capturing a transitional period where Italian organ composition moved away from liturgical constraints toward more operatic and romantic influences.

The recording features the versatile organist Arturo Sacchetti, whose technical approach was intended to highlight the diverse stylistic shifts documented across the nineteenth century. By curating works from composers as varied as Cimarosa, Verdi, and Puccini, the production sought to bridge the gap between early classical forms and the burgeoning verismo era, providing a scholarly overview of regional Italian instruments and their unique tonal capabilities.
