Ludovico's Technique

Ludovico's Technique, a project led by artist and musician Philippe Petit, released this self-titled mini-album in 1985 through the French label New Rose Records. Emerging from the post-punk and experimental industrial scenes of the mid-1980s, the work is named after the fictional aversion therapy process from Anthony Burgess's A Clockwork Orange. The release reflects the era's fascination with dark, dystopian literary themes and the burgeoning interest in electronic experimentation.

The record is characterized by its cold, mechanical aesthetic and minimalist approach to industrial soundscapes. Its design and auditory direction were heavily influenced by the European avant-garde movement, aiming to evoke the same sense of clinical detachment and psychological unease associated with its namesake. While it remained a niche release within the independent catalog of New Rose Records, it is recognized by collectors as a precise artifact of 1980s underground experimental music.
