Where it came from
Released in 1978 under the BPM Record label, L'Ultima Storia D'Amore stands as a representative example of the lush, orchestral pop sound emerging from the Italian independent music scene during the late 1970s. The record was produced during a period when BPM was actively scouting vocal talent that could bridge the gap between traditional Italian balladry and the burgeoning European studio production styles of the era.
Marta Lami, the primary artist, collaborated with the label's house arrangers to create a cohesive thematic work centered on contemporary romantic narratives. The design of the sleeve reflects the minimalist aesthetic favored by BPM at the time, prioritizing atmospheric photography over complex graphic design to appeal to the sophisticated adult contemporary market that defined the label's audience.
