The A-side, Midnight in Moscow, serves as a whimsical instrumental interpretation of the Russian folk song Podmoskovnye Vechera, which had achieved global recognition following the 1957 World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow. Glahé’s arrangement was designed to translate the nostalgic, lyrical sentiment of the original piece into a polished, accessible ballroom aesthetic suitable for the international pop charts.

The B-side, Am Sonntag will mein Süßer mit mir segeln geh'n, reflects Glahé’s roots in the German light music tradition, revisiting a classic song from the 1920s with the high production values typical of Decca's European releases during that era.
