Where it came from
Released in 2006 on the iconic German imprint Playhouse, the Rainshower EP represents a significant collaboration between Holger Zilske and Dave DK. The record emerged during a period when Playhouse was instrumental in shaping the minimal techno and tech-house landscape, bridging the gap between clinical electronic production and more melodic, atmospheric sensibilities.
The design and sound of the release reflect the minimalist aesthetic typical of the Playhouse catalog during the mid-2000s, favoring subtle rhythmic textures and spacious soundscapes. Zilske and Dave DK were both central figures in the Berlin-based scene at the time, and this EP was widely regarded by music critics as a polished example of the label’s ability to foster forward-thinking club music that remained accessible and emotive.
