Red River Rock / Reveille Rock

Red River Rock was originally recorded in 1959 by Johnny and the Hurricanes, an instrumental rock and roll group from Toledo, Ohio, led by saxophonist Johnny Paris. The track is a driving, high-energy rock interpretation of the traditional folk song Red River Valley. It became the band's most successful single, emblematic of the era's transition toward punchy, organ-led instrumental rock arrangements that captured the youthful enthusiasm of late 1950s American radio.
