Where it came from
Released in 2024 by Second Records, this compilation record serves as a modern curation of mid-century rhythm and blues holiday tracks. The collection was designed to highlight the energetic, upbeat intersection of early rock and roll and seasonal music, drawing from a period when R&B artists frequently experimented with thematic holiday releases to capture the spirit of the post-war American dance hall.
The album's aesthetic, reflected in its catalog number SRXM0017, leans into a nostalgic visual and sonic experience. By pairing classic, high-tempo vocal performances with a contemporary pressing, the label aimed to introduce younger listeners to the grit and soul of 1950s festive music, ensuring that the production standards met the expectations of modern vinyl enthusiasts while preserving the rawness of the original source material.
