Where it came from
Released in 1975 under the Elektra label, this single features Wolfgang Hofer’s musical adaptation of the German children's book character Rüdiger, the night ghost. The project emerged during a period when German media was actively expanding the presence of whimsical, slightly eerie supernatural characters in children's entertainment, aiming to provide a blend of storytelling and accessible pop music for a younger audience.
The record design captures the aesthetic of mid-seventies German children's programming, utilizing playful yet atmospheric cover art to appeal to the themes of mystery and night-time adventures. While Hofer was known for his work in the German music scene, this specific release remains a niche archival item, reflecting the experimental spirit of Elektra’s localized catalog efforts in the European market during that decade.
