Released in 2001 on the Rapster Records imprint, The Bay-Bronx Bridge / Silk Suit, Black Linen served as a collaborative EP between the producer Kut Masta Kurt and the duo Masters of Illusion, consisting of rappers Keith Murray and Ras Kass. The project emerged during a period of experimentation within independent hip-hop, aiming to bridge the distinct stylistic approaches of the West Coast and East Coast underground scenes through Kurt's boom-bap production sensibilities.
