Where it came from
Released in 2009 on the Frankfurt-based label Klangfarbe Schallplatten, the Them Van Sick Up EP represents a period of experimentation within the German minimal techno and house scene. The collaboration between Holger Brauns, Tim Wagner, Moss Bart, and Marco Parenti reflects the label's ethos of fostering community-driven electronic music, prioritizing intricate sound design and rhythmic texture over mainstream appeal.
The record design emphasizes the minimalist aesthetic common to late-2000s vinyl releases from independent dance labels. By focusing on analog-leaning production techniques, the contributors aimed to craft a sonic landscape suitable for intimate club environments, contributing to the broader KLA catalog's reputation for maintaining a consistent, refined identity within the niche European underground market.
