Where it came from
To Slags Mørke was released in 2017 by the Danish singer-songwriter Kristina Holgersen. The album represents a continuation of Holgersen's stylistic shift toward literary adaptations, specifically drawing inspiration from the works of Danish author Josefine Klougart. This record emerged from a collaborative artistic project where Holgersen sought to translate the visceral, atmospheric prose of contemporary Nordic literature into a musical landscape, balancing melodic singer-songwriter traditions with electronic textures.
The album's design and conceptual framework lean heavily into the moody, introspective themes of the source material, emphasizing the intersection of language and sound. Upon its release on the independent label DME, the record was received by critics as a poignant exploration of Scandinavian melancholy and modern identity. Holgersen's commitment to the project solidified her reputation for bridging the gap between classical literary themes and modern indie-folk aesthetics within the Danish music scene.
