Released in 1986 on the Chrysalis label, U-Vox stands as the final studio album featuring the classic Ultravox quartet of Midge Ure, Billy Currie, Chris Cross, and Warren Cann. The record emerged during a transitional period for the band, moving away from the starker, minimalist electronic sound of their early eighties output toward a more polished, arena-oriented pop-rock aesthetic. Produced by Conny Plank, who had been instrumental in shaping their earlier sound, the album reflects the commercial pressures and evolving production trends of the mid-eighties.
