Where it came from
Released in 2011, Tales From The Pit Vol. 2 serves as a localized compilation project curated by the Whidbey Island Pyrate Punx, an active collective within the Pacific Northwest DIY punk scene. The record was issued on the independent label PB Records under catalog number PB021, reflecting the grassroots effort to document the abrasive and high-energy sounds emerging from the island's underground music community during the early 2010s.
The compilation functions as a sonic snapshot of the regional subculture, featuring various artists who contributed to the local scene's aesthetic of rebellion and community solidarity. The design and production were driven by the collective’s ethos of self-reliance, prioritizing raw recording quality and local representation over commercial polish. While it remains an obscure title to the general public, it is regarded by punk enthusiasts as a distinct artifact of Whidbey Island's specific, localized musical history.
