Where it came from
7 Colored Fish was released in the North American English edition of the Metal Raiders booster set, which debuted in 2002. As a Normal Monster with 1800 Attack points, it became a staple of early competitive play because it offered one of the highest base attack values for a Level 4 monster that required no tributes. It reflects the initial design philosophy of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, where simple, high-stat creatures were essential for board control during the game's formative era.
The artwork for 7 Colored Fish is characteristic of the early Kazuki Takahashi-inspired aesthetic, featuring a vibrant, fantastical creature that fits the aquatic theme of the card. While the card lacks an effect and has since been surpassed by modern power creep, it remains a nostalgic touchstone for collectors of the Metal Raiders set. Its design serves as a prime example of the straightforward card mechanics that defined the game's popularity during its international expansion.
