Lore

Why it matters

Introduced in the 2008 Phantom Darkness set, this trap card reflects the era’s focus on aggressive gameplay by forcing all monsters on the field into attack position. While it remains a common rarity, collectors appreciate it as a representative piece of the game's shift toward high-impact field control during the mid-2000s.

Provenance

Where it came from

All-Out Attacks was released in the 2008 Phantom Darkness booster set, a pivotal expansion in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game that significantly shifted the competitive landscape. The set was designed to introduce powerful dark-themed archetypes and support cards, reflecting a darker, more aggressive shift in the game's meta-strategy during that era.

The card features an illustration depicting a chaotic skirmish, which aligns with its tactical function: forcing all summoned monsters to attack immediately. Designed to disrupt opponents by removing the ability to set up defensive walls, it was viewed upon release as a niche trap that rewarded high-risk, high-reward playstyles rather than the standard control-based strategies common at the time.
