Altergeist Protocol

Altergeist Protocol was introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as a key support card for the Altergeist archetype. It first debuted in the Star Pack VRAINS set, released to provide players with a more accessible way to acquire cards featured in the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS animated series. The design of the card emphasizes the theme of the archetype, which centers on cybernetic ghosts and digital trickery, utilizing a common rarity to ensure the card remained widely available for players building thematic decks.

The card was designed to facilitate the Altergeist playstyle by offering both an omni-negate effect and a graveyard recovery utility. Its mechanical focus on disrupting the opponent while maintaining board presence reflects the control-oriented nature of the Altergeist strategy popularized in competitive play during the VRAINS era. As an illustration of the series' lore, the art depicts the intricate, neon-hued aesthetic consistent with the digital constructs controlled by the character Ghost Girl in the source material.
