Amazoness Sage

Amazoness Sage was originally introduced as a common card in the 2012 release of Battle Pack: Epic Dawn, a product designed specifically to facilitate a unique drafting format for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. The card itself represents the Amazoness archetype, a series of warrior-themed monsters that debuted years prior to this set, characterized by their focus on aggressive combat and physical prowess.

The design of the Amazoness cards draws upon the mythological figures of the ancient world, reinterpreting them through the lens of early 2000s Japanese fantasy illustration. While the Sage specifically features an ability to destroy spell or trap cards upon battle, the Battle Pack incarnation aimed to balance this utility within a high-speed, limited play environment where players were forced to adapt to a curated pool of cards rather than their own constructed decks.
