Arequus the Shining Mars Saint

Arequus the Shining Mars Saint was released in the Maze of Muertos expansion set, which sought to blend thematic, gothic aesthetics with distinct celestial and mythological motifs. As an effect-monster card, it was designed to introduce specific tactical interactions to the game, reflecting a period where the developers were experimenting with light-attribute synergy and high-utility card effects to balance the meta-game landscape.

The card’s visual design follows the stylistic conventions of the Maze of Muertos series, utilizing intricate metallic foiling characteristic of super-rare cards to emphasize the character’s radiant, divine aesthetic. The illustration was created by the game’s internal design team, focusing on a balance of ethereal imagery and tactical readability, and the card was generally received by the community as a focused, mid-range addition to light-attribute decks.
