Artifact Ignition

Artifact Ignition was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Primal Origin booster set in 2014, later seeing a reprint as an Ultra Rare in the 2015 Mega-Tin Mega Pack. The card was designed to support the 'Artifact' archetype, a series of LIGHT Fairy monsters that can be set in the Spell & Trap Zone and Special Summon themself when destroyed during the opponent's turn. This design provided players with a proactive way to trigger their own Artifact effects, turning a reactive defensive tool into an aggressive disruption engine.

The mechanical identity of Artifact Ignition centers on its versatility, allowing players to destroy a Spell or Trap card on the field while simultaneously setting an Artifact monster from the deck. This dual-purpose utility made it a staple in competitive decks of the mid-2010s, as it offered both backrow removal and deck thinning.
