Assault Blackwing - Sohaya the Rain Storm

Assault Blackwing - Sohaya the Rain Storm was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the Battles of Legend: Armageddon booster set, released in 2020. As a Synchro Monster belonging to the Blackwing archetype, it serves as a powerful utility tool for players utilizing the rapid-fire special summoning style for which the theme is renowned. The card design draws from the established aesthetic of the Blackwing monsters, which are known for their dark, avian-warrior imagery, emphasizing the swift, aggressive playstyle that defined the archetype during the 5D’s era of the franchise.

The artwork follows the tradition of Konami’s design team, who sought to capture a sense of relentless motion and tactical synergy. While Blackwings have long been a fan-favorite for their competitive consistency, this specific iteration was designed to provide players with a reliable way to revive fallen synchro allies and extend plays. It was well-received by the community upon release, particularly by long-time enthusiasts of the archetype, as it offered a streamlined path for complex turn-based strategies without requiring excessive resource investment.
