Battle Fader

Battle Fader was originally introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the 2009 set Absolute Powerforce. It was designed as a defensive utility card, intended to help players survive direct attacks while simultaneously establishing a presence on the field for future plays. Its arrival shifted the competitive landscape, as its ability to end the battle phase by being special summoned from the hand provided a reliable safety net against aggressive strategies.

The version included in Battle Pack 2: War of the Giants, released in 2013, was specifically curated for the set’s unique draft-style play environment. In this context, the card retained its classic design—depicting a clockwork, time-manipulating automaton—while serving as a crucial tactical tool for limited-format duels. Like much of the series, the artwork reflects a blend of steampunk aesthetic and high-fantasy mechanical motifs, a visual style that has remained a hallmark of the game since its inception.
